Oivind Hovland fab illustrations

Øivind Hovland is an experienced freelance illustrator with a huge list of international clients, covering a broad range of media. He is the author of two illustrated books, published by Tabella, and his work has been short-listed for Best Norwegian Newspaper Illustrator, IMAGES and the Nationwide Mercury Prize Art Exhibition.

His work is all about storytelling: “Even if you only have one small image at your disposal, a story can still be told. And that, in a nutshell is my aim, to tell a story using whatever means I have”.

We loved the “acid” sense of humor, the funny circumstances that happens all the time in our lives, the colours, the way he translates the story to his illustration, beyond cool…. definitely amazing! We want it all!

” I´m not crazy, my reality is just different than yours.”

Some of them made me laugh out loud, especially the one with the ostriches. Classic!

  6. So glad you posted these — I had never heard of this illustrator. Incredible how he tells a story or point in the illustrations. They’re funny, cool, and amazing. The germs in the window behind the couple watching TV. The man wearing a devil mask while on the computer, blazing fire. And all with cool colors. Great stuff!

    • Hey Zooky,
This artist could be a great inspiration for some cool prints, think about that. I wan´t one, or two.. maybe three?
Thanks for your visit, lots of love

    • Hi Zooky!!!
I know… when I saw it for the 1st time I said “this is a way to cool, I have to post it now”! Besides telling his story, Oivind gives you the chance to make other interpretations, which I love!
Please, keep coming back to check out our future stuff!

  7. Outstanding work! One of my favorites is the guy with the devil mask, breathing fire, while typing on a laptop. I just taught a lesson to 6th grade students about the question, “Does facebook make people mean?” The illustration fits that question. I also think the image of the woman and man on the couch, each with thought bubbles of different situations, is excellent! I like how the man is only picturing himself (ego!) having to listen to his wife. As a husband myself, you illustrate something I’ve felt.

    • Hey Chris, how are you doing?
LOL loved your comment, “Does Facebook make people mean?” Sometimes. hahaha
Thank you so much for taking your time to write us.. feel free to comeback anytime!

      Cheers

  8. Hey,

They all are indeed nice. I wish there was a title for each of these. It may not warrant it, but it will help us know the artist’s mind at the time of illustrating.

    • Hello,
I agree with you, we wrote an e-mail to the artist, hopefully, we will write us back. I´ll keep in mind to get the tittles and some more info about each piece.
      Thanks for you comment

  9. Love them. For a change I actually studied each pic. The guy n girl sitting on the couch of my favourite. How true is that? Though i might have placed a slightly different mindspace in the guy’s thought bubble! If u get my meaning;l)
