Toxic Women

Toxic Women

NYC based artist, illustrator and photographer Andrea Marshall recently had an incredible exhibition in New York titled Toxic Women which she showcased a large body of  very creative and thought provoking work. Through a series of intensely provocative self-portraits rendered as paintings, photographs and film she examines the intersection of identity, female sexuality and consumer culture in the context of the “ideal woman”. Here is just a little sneak peak (but not the self portraits) of her comic, sexual and toxic work! Amazing!
“A Woman is a beast. She is as lovely as she is repulsive. She is one part demon and one part goddess… one part slave, one part muse…one part child and one part mother…these contradictions are what make a woman so intoxicating.”

“I have it all calculated in my head, I have the look of an American painter”. Andrea Mary Marshall

  1. They are very thought provoking for sure! I personally am not a fan if the artwork where she paints directly on the magazine but her personal illustrations are amazing !!

  2. wow. I nearly forgot about ciccolina. If I had not seen this post today all the memories I had of her would have fallen out of my head. Kudos on your super coolness!
