Coolest Toy Sculptures

10/25/2012 by chicquero

Amazing toy sculptures by the Australian artist Freya Jobbins. Provocative, funny and disturbing at the same time, Jobbins has re-purposed old children’s dolls in an unusual way, by assembling them into three dimensional portraits known as ‘dollfaces’. Freya uses the toys in a way to create caricature-like facial features of a somewhat grotesque nature. An impressive sculptural work, an artistic exploration of the relationship between consumerism and the culture of recycling, certainly bringing your attention to the point with the absurdist humanoid forms. “My work explores […]

The Liquid Light series of world renown fine art photographer Howard Schatz is pretty impressive. His photographs are exhibited in museums and photography galleries internationally and are included in innumerable private collections. He has made extraordinary images for such advertising clients as Escada, Sergio Tacchini, Nike, Wolford, Etienne Aigner, Sony, Adidas, Finlandia Vodka, MGM Grand Hotel, Virgin Records, Pantene, and Mercedes-Benz. The PINK and BLUE project. This colorful project by  JeongMee Yoon explores the trends in cultural preferences and the differences in the tastes of children (and their parents) from diverse cultures, ethnic groups as well as gender socialization and identity. The work also raises other issues, such as the relationship between gender and consumerism, urbanization, the globalization of consumerism and the new capitalism. Mark Mawson is a London/ Sydney based photographer who really has a very cool and particular understanding of digital photography under water not to mention how he uses color (OMG, it’s sick!). This series is called “Aqueous Fuoreau” and it’s about different shapes, shades combined with a fabulous splash of vivid and kinda neon colors of ink that floats… dances… falls perfectly in the water. It’s so fun to stare at this rainbow-ish and major artwork! Happy Friday! “I know […]

Seriously, it’s just a matter of taste.

11/09/2011 by chicquero

Some people say that the best photographers are graphic designers first cause they’re aware of color, forms and negative space. Well, who am I to disagree? Italian photographer Fulvio Bonavia really impresses us with his surprising work made with edible elements. Bonavia merges the natural with the manufactured in his work, his last book “Matter of Taste” is really delightful. Love the fact that still life meets high fashion meets ingeniously creative… so clever! “Love of beauty is taste. The creation […]

10/30/2011 by chicquero

24 hours is a series designed by brazilian illustrator and super creative Fernando Volken Togni for the Oryx Magazine, Qatar Airways. What I love about this series is the fact that you can get a brief summary of each place through this amazing kinda like “restroom sign” style. Also, the colors are a plus… it’s so cool, so cheerful! Hope one day I can make it to all those places and get to experience every single little detail of  Mr […]
