Vessels and Blooms

06/14/2012 by chicquero

“Vessels and Blooms” is a photo series of splashing liquids that resemble flowers in vases. Photographer Jack Long captured each image in one high speed exposure, without any Photoshop trickery. They are created by photographing fast-moving droplets of paint as they fall through the air. Artist Jack Long, 53, spends months painstakingly planning and testing each work before capturing them with a high-speed camera. He uses water mixed with thickeners, pigments and dyes. The paint is suspended in air for a split second and he […]

Old Car portraits

05/29/2012 by chicquero

Ryan Schude is a Los Angeles based photographer that focus his artwork around a conceptual and narrative framework.  This is a cool series of  ”vintage cars portraits”, shot mostly with his Lomo Lubitel 166+. I love the effect of Lomo photographs, perfect faded colors and beautiful lighting, creating this cool vintage vibe. “I hooked up my accelerator pedal in my car to my brake lights. I hit the gas, people behind me stop, and I’m gone.” Stephen Wright >>>YOU MAY ALSO LIKE<<< Vans […]

Ewa Mos likes to capture “strange things”, as she describes some of her artwork. She love skulls, hearts, people, animals and fantasy.  All illustrations are hand made and colorized in digital way. Her favorite type of media consists in a fun, beautiful mix between real photographs & illustration. Got love, it´s art above art, just saying! You are more than welcome to take a look at her portfolio. Be able to draw an illustration as least well enough to get your point across […]

Lomo Lubitel Portraits

04/25/2012 by chicquero

Photographer Ryan Schude in a Series of portraits taken with the Lomo Lubitel 166+ medium format camera. Lubitel refers to any of the several medium format twin-lens reflex cameras manufactured in Russia by LOMO. The design is based on the early 1930′s Voigtländer Brillant camera with various improvements. They are often considered toy cameras due to cheap price, bakelite and later plastic construction and low build quality. However the Lubitels use 120 film, feature Cooke triplet, all-glass lenses and shutter speeds can […]

Europe Now and Then (1940s) : Classic Photography Russian photographer Sergey Larenkov carefully photoshops old World War II photos, over recent shots to make the past come alive.  After St. Petersburg, he made collages in Paris, Moscow, Berlin, Prague, Vienna and other cities. These are simply stunning, excellent execution. “It’s very interesting to find the point where another photographer once stood. Suddenly, you see an old world with your very own eyes. “After 30 years in Paris (France), I moved to New York where I love, live and work since 2006 My main interest in life is to observe humans in urban spaces. How they work, breathe, interact, How they walk, eat and mourn Where they find the soft, the poetic, the soothing Where they hide their secrets. My purpose is not to invade but to share.” – Stéphanie de Rougé “Dis-moi ce que tu manges, je te dirai ce que tu […]

Color my pictures

01/19/2012 by chicquero

Sweden-based artist Sanna Dullaway re-imagines photos from yesteryear in vibrant, realistic images, by replacing the varied shades of gray. The series features portraits of well-known people throughout history including Abraham Lincoln, Che Guevara, Albert Einstein, Mark Twain, Anne Frank, and a young Charlie Chaplin without his signature mustache. Dullaway’s color restoration project breathes new life into these aged, colorless images. Though many of them are wonderful, in their own right, there’s something new and fresh about the photographs after the artist […]

Beyond reality

01/09/2012 by chicquero

The Dutch couple based in Rotterdan Schilte & Portielje works beautifully together. Jacqueline Portielje, who studied painting and Huub Schilte, an architect by training, met in 1975 and have inspired each other ever since. They create a particular world of black and white pictures with solitary and sometimes distant looking figures in the center. Their likenesses could easily be interpreted as the result of a process used in the days of analogic photography but they explore computers as a resource for artistic expression. They discovered more than […]

Save Africa!

12/15/2011 by chicquero

For the love of Africa Photographer Nick Brandt says, “The emphasis has generally been on capturing the drama of wild animals IN ACTION, on capturing that dramatic single moment, as opposed to simply animals in the state of being.” Brandt has documented the extraordinary wildlife of Africa and its unfortunate decimation. His set of images include portraits of poachers, hauling their inventory of giant ivory tusks, as well as decomposing carcasses of wildlife, including those of flamingos, bats, giraffes, and varied […]

Mustache Monday

11/21/2011 by chicquero

Mustache Freaks Mustache is that facial hair grown on the outer surface of the upper lip. It may or may not be accompanied by a type of beard, a facial hair style grown and cropped to cover most of the lower half of the face. The word “moustache” derives from 16th century French moustache, which in turn is derived from the Italian mostaccio.  Dave Mead is an Austin, Texas-based (why I’m not surprised?) photographer who shoots advertising and editorial with a primary focus on the […]

The model Ekaterina Detcheva has a very clean, sort of androgynous look, which I love, not to mention, her great red hair. This shoot is quite fabulous because of the […]

Russian and very talented “photo artist” Oleg Dou is a multi award-winning based in Moscow. Because of his artistic family he faced art ever since he was a little kid. He got inspired by a book with Proto-Renaissance artists. With his photography he’s trying to show people in a not stereotypical way, he’s always been interested in human individuality and self-expression. His work reaches a point between oposities such as alive and dead, attractive and disturbing… It leaves no doubt […]
